History of the i4web logo

The name born in 1994: the company where i worked (italtel) was pioneering Internet in Italy:
- users an acoustic coupler at 300 baud towards U.S.A. in 1980 (d'u remember uunet, uuftp, uumail?)
- associated with European Unix Users' Group in 1982
-cofounder of Italian Unix Users' Group (I2U) in 1984 in Nijmegen, NL
- user of the I2Unet towards the node "mcvax" in Amsterdam at 9600 bps
- owner of a class-B Ip-addresses from 1990
- implementer of the Ip-access over X-25 in 1992
- user of Mosaic browser and HTTP-server (the first Intranet server) in 1993.

In 1994 Internet went to the attention of the management board, who asked what Italtel could do with the new phenomenon: the answer was a project called "Internet in Italtel phase II": four I's;
i-4-web.
The logo was the Leonardo da Vinci's "homo Vitruviano" in the form of Spiderman : the man for the web.
